Abstract

To analyze the phenomenon of centralization and decentralization in education, this text makes an international comparison on the Latin American continent. We will study first the reasons that led States to decentralize or to deconcentrate education. Our study will consider the countries Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. All three countries are federations but their history and their social and economic realities are different. After having highlighted the movements of decentralization and deconcentration that affect specific approaches in the regulation of education policies, we will focus on the processes of recentralization.
